Privacy Policy
Last updated September 3, 2026
This policy explains what ShowThrottle, operated by Old Dawg Studios LLC, collects when you use the platform, why we collect it, who else sees it, and how to get it removed. ShowThrottle is offered to users in the United States only.
The short version. We collect what a car show needs to run: who you are, what you drive, and what you registered for. Card numbers never reach our servers — Stripe handles those. We don't sell your information and we don't run advertising trackers. Some of what you enter is deliberately public, and section 4 says exactly which parts.
1. What we collect
Account information
Your name, email address, phone number, and username. Passwords are handled by Google Firebase Authentication and are never visible to us. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from that account rather than a password.
Vehicle information
Year, make, model, color, and the description you write, along with any photos you upload. If you save a vehicle to My Garage, this is kept on your account so you can reuse it for later shows.
Show and registration information
Which shows you register for, your class and car number, check-in status, payment status, and any awards. If you organize shows, this also includes your club details, venue address, pricing, and the registrations you receive.
Payment information
Payments are processed by Stripe. We never receive or store full card numbers. We keep a record that a payment occurred, its amount and status, and the identifiers Stripe gives us so refunds and receipts can be matched later.
Location
When you open the show picker in My Garage, your browser may ask permission to share your location. It is used only to sort and filter nearby shows by distance, and we do not keep a history of where you have been. Declining is fine — you'll see the full list without distances. You can revoke the permission in your browser at any time.
Voting
When you vote, we record which vehicle you voted for and the account or device that voted, so results stay honest and one voter cannot vote twice for the same vehicle.
Technical information
Our hosting and database providers keep standard server logs, including IP address, browser type, and pages requested, for security and troubleshooting.
2. How we use it
- To run registrations, check-in, judging, voting, and results.
- To process payments and refunds through Stripe.
- To show organizers the entries and sponsorships for their own shows.
- To generate QR codes, car numbers, dockets, and printed placards.
- To contact you about a registration, a show, or your account.
- To keep the platform secure, prevent duplicate registrations, and detect vote manipulation.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.
3. Who else sees it
We use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf:
- Stripe — payments, refunds, and payouts to clubs.
- Google Firebase — accounts and sign-in, database, and file storage for photos and QR codes.
- Vercel and Render — hosting for the website, the app, and the server.
- Nominatim / OpenStreetMap — converting a show's venue address into map coordinates. Venue addresses are sent for this; personal details are not.
- Brave Search — used for a search feature within the platform. Queries are sent; your identity is not attached.
Show organizers see the registration details for their own shows, including presenter name, contact information, vehicle details, and payment status. They need this to run the event and to reach you if plans change.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect our rights or someone's safety, or in connection with a sale or transfer of the business.
4. What is public
Parts of ShowThrottle are meant to be seen, because a car show is a public event.
- Public: show listings, venue and date, show dockets, vehicle pages including your name, vehicle details, description and photo, car number, class, sponsor logos and names, and results.
- Not public: your email address, phone number, password, payment details, and home location. Organizers of shows you register for can see your contact details; other users cannot.
Vehicle pages and dockets are viewable by anyone with the link, including people who are not signed in. Write descriptions accordingly, and avoid putting license plates, home addresses, or storage locations in a photo you upload.
5. Cookies and browser storage
We use browser storage for two things: keeping you signed in, which Firebase Authentication handles, and remembering which role you are viewing the platform as during a session. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
6. Children
ShowThrottle is not intended for children under 14, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. A presenter under 18 must be registered by a parent or legal guardian, who provides the contact and payment details. If you believe a child under 14 has given us information, write to support@showthrottle.com and we will delete it.
7. How long we keep it
Account and vehicle information is kept while your account is open. Show, registration, and voting records are kept as part of the historical record of an event, since results and awards are meaningful after the fact. Payment records are kept as long as tax, accounting, and dispute-resolution needs require, which is generally several years.
8. Your choices
- See or correct it. Most account and vehicle information can be edited directly in the app. For anything else, write to us.
- Delete it. Ask us to close your account and remove your personal information at support@showthrottle.com. Sort out any active registrations first.
- Location. Revoke the browser permission at any time; the platform keeps working.
- Email. You may opt out of non-essential email. Messages about a registration, payment, or show you are part of will continue, since those are part of the service.
What we cannot fully undo is the public record of a past show. Results, dockets, and award history stay as they were, though we will remove your contact details and can remove a vehicle photo on request.
9. Security
Payments go through Stripe and never touch our servers. Access to data is restricted by database security rules so that people reach only what their role allows, and traffic is encrypted in transit. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee against every possible breach. If one occurs that affects you, we will notify you as the law requires.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top changes when we do, and for significant changes we will make a reasonable effort to notify account holders.
